How to Run a Profitable Martial Arts Summer Camp

A well-run summer camp does three jobs at once: it generates strong summer revenue when tuition typically dips, it fills your fall classes with campers who convert, and it introduces your school to families who would never have walked in for a trial class.

Structure camp around variety, not volume. A full day of martial arts exhausts kids and instructors alike. The best camps mix two martial arts sessions with games, crafts, outdoor time, and themed weeks: ninja week, board-breaking week, Olympic week. Themes drive registrations because they give parents something to say yes to.

Price for value and simplicity. Weekly rates between $199 and $349 are common depending on market, with sibling discounts and early-bird pricing to fill spots by spring. Offer half-day options if your market has demand, and always include a uniform or camp shirt for new kids: it builds belonging and puts your logo in a hundred family photos.

Staff to ratios, not hope. Plan for one staff member per eight to ten kids, use your leadership program teens as junior counselors, and run background checks on everyone. Parents are trusting you with their children for a full week; professionalism is the product.

The enrollment funnel is the real prize. Every non-member camper should leave week one with a graduation ceremony, a belt or certificate, and an invitation to join classes with a camper-only offer. Invite parents to the Friday showcase; a parent watching their child break a board is the easiest enrollment conversation you will ever have.

Camps also generate a flood of inquiries in a short window, and the schools that capture them respond fast. Automated follow-up through Academy Blast ensures every camp inquiry and post-camp enrollment lead gets an instant response and a clear next step, even while your team is running games on the mat.
